Emma Prempeh

Emma Prempeh's residency took place between August and September 2022 in GAS's space in Lekki. 

 

In the video, the artist is seen at work and talking about identity, family, history, existentialism, spirituality and more that make up this body of work and solo exhibition "You were, You Are and You Always Will Be", shown at Tiwani Contemporary, Lagos in September 2022.

 

Prempeh says:

"The body of works represents my exploration of interior spaces pictorially colliding with aspects of my personal history. My thoughts whilst making this series were to build an environment around these moments to physically weave around and between, to grasp moments of familiarity, expectation and nostalgia. My reflections are about how we exist within spaces of (in)tangible realities that are present and simultaneously experienced as metaphysical: spiritual, supernatural, or transcendental.”
