Dawit L. Petros' work, 'Nearness and Distance Constitute a Position will be on view at the Huis Marseille Museum for Photography, Amsterdam in a group exhbition titled ‘Memento. Photography interrupted’. The show runs from 29 June until October 12 2025 and is to celebrate Huis Marseille’s 25th anniversary.
Part of the series, ‘The Strangers Notebook (2016-2017)’, the work draws on a 13-month journey across Africa and Europe. Petros reflects on the complexity of migration within Africa, questioning why certain narratives are highlighted while others remain invisible. By challenging how we frame these journeys, and offering a new visual language that blends figuration and abstraction, the artist opens up a space to rethink how we relate to place, identity, and mobility.
