Untitled—a woman bending over a bowl. (note this work is going to Art X UHO 009)
Distilled from The Departure, referencing my dad's funeral and my mother’s head-shaving ceremony—witnessing her transition from wife to widow. Hair is a status symbol; the act of shaving marks transformation.
My mother had a choice, a saying yes to tradition alongside Christian rites. She was supported by women in the community—this inspired reflection on who holds me in my journey, invoking the guardian spirit or divine double.
