Part of the SPG exhibition We Are Briefly Gorgeous. Painted over spring and summer inspired by visits to Southwark Park and the community that uses it. Also inspired by my daily walks through Clissold Park and scenes I witnessed. Portraying scenes of joy was a key concept in this exhibition.
A mother and her daughter sharing a moment of laughter in the park.
It’s a female version of the painting with of the grandfather and son that was in the Beloved exhibition at Tiwani.
It’s a celebration of the everyday.
Titled holding on to memories, thinking about how both the grandmother and granddaughter would look back on a day like this with fondness.
